Regina Public Schools Strategic Plan

On September 23, 2014, the administration of Regina Public Schools (RPS) presented the 2014-2017 Strategic Plan to the Board of Education.

This Plan replaces the Continuous Improvement Framework that the school division has been using for a number of years. The Plan comes after twenty-eight  Saskatchewan School Boards adopted the provincial Education Sector Strategic Plan (ESSP) in the early spring of 2014. With 12.5 per cent of the province’s students, RPS’ strategic plan is a critical component in the ESSP’s short term objectives and long term outcomes related to student achievement being realized. You can read more about the ESSP here:

Planning for Student Success

Regina Public Schools has a strong tradition of strategic planning strengthened through the completion of eight Continuous Improvement Plans. The development of this strategic plan, guided by RPS’s mission and Shared Values, and directed by the provincial Educational Sector Strategic Plan, provides a clear direction for all activity in the school division to 2017.

Founded upon RPS enduring priorities for student success and focusing on the Division-Level targets established in 2012, the six core strategies of the 2014-17 Strategic Plan are:

  • Development of a First Nations, Métis and Inuit Achievement Initiative
  • Implementation of a comprehensive program to improve Reading Performance at all Grade Levels
  • Increasing the number of Kindergarten students who enter Grade One ready to learn
  • Increasing the number of students who achieve Grade level performance in literacy and numeracy
  • Improving student attendance and credit attainment as a means of increasing graduation rates
  • Ensuring all current and future program and service expenditures contribute positively to student success

The Strategic Plan was developed following a number Continuous Improvement Plans from recent years. See a list of those plans below.
