During the 2017-18 school year, the Board of Education is considering the appropriateness of the name of one of its schools, Davin. Named after Nicholas Flood Davin, who's Report: Report on Industrial Schools for Indians and Half-Breeds was instrumental in the creation of Canada's Residential Schools. Public scrutiny of the Davin Report, especially in light the history of residential schools and the recommendations of The Truth and Reconciliation Report has precipitated a re-evaluation of the appropriateness of the use of his name on the school.

On November 6, 2017, the Board of Education began an online consultation process, which closed in December, 2017. There were over 1,300 responses in this very well participated in process. The Board of Education will share the results of its consideration and will make a decision about the Davin School name before the end of the 2017-18 school year.
